Spruce Gum

Wild crafted Spruce Gum sustainably harvested from the Deh Cho to the North Slave.

Can be used as a lozenge for sore throats, as a decoction (tea that is boiled), in salves for topical use, and as chewing gum.

As a kid this was a go-to anytime we were sick. Old timers used a metal coffee can to boil spruce gum tea as the resin sticks to pots, my dad included - I do not recommend this method because who knows what those coffee cans are made of, but a dedicated pot is encouraged as the resin that will stick to the pot is very hard (impossible) to remove.

Please note that while we do our best to ensure there is no excess plant matter, however as a wild crafted product it is normal to find pieces of bark and spruce needles in this product.
